The entrance to a fancy restaurant/art gallery in Tel Aviv. Almost every café/restaurant has an armed guard at its entrance. He checks the customers’ bags. At first, coming back from NY, we were amazed by this phenomena that didn’t exist before the second Intifada. We’ve got used to it.
I’ve read an article about the current “king” of Tel Aviv’s night life, that as it turns out is extremely vibrant and decadent these days. He said that terror attacks do not harm his extensive business, which include several bars and nightclubs. “It does not mean that my clients are clueless as to what’s going on in this country”, he says. “When the second Intifada broke, business were low, but when people realized the situation is not going to change, they’ve decided that they still want to have fun and enjoy life. The Mondial had a much bigger influence on Tel Aviv’s nightlife than a terror attack”.
We've been to Jerusalem yesterday to visit the family. It was lovely as ever. We even managed to see Ae Fond Kiss.
